Being a portrait photographer is an honor. It gives me permission to look into people's emotions through their expressions - I get to glimpse things people don't even know they are revealing.
I like goofy, spontaneous, serious, sad, stressed, you name it. Young people look old, old people look young. Deep connections or awkwardness between people shines through. I am the privileged recipient of people's true feelings. That is a big responsibility and I don't take it lightly. I photograph families, couples, babies, pets, musicians, gatherings, aspiring business people, those young adults heading out into the world after graduating high school, my wife, my dog, and then, when it's 2 am and no one will pose for me, I do self-portraits so I can fine tune my lighting skills.
