Rodeo is a big deal in Montana and the West. Not only is it a measure of the riders' skills and stamina, but it is a reflection of the culture that teaches its children how to work with and relate to animals. How to work hard despite difficult circumstance. How to buck up and carry your weight on a very fundamental level. Most people in this world of iPads and internet never had the opportunity to feel that kind of connection with other beings and with place. I consider myself lucky to live in the heart of the ranch culture and am grateful for its influence on my life.
